New Service Targeting Project Cargo, Renewables And Other Commodities
Cargo shipping line Swire Bulk is starting in June its first liner service between Southeast Asia and Europe.
The new service, launched by the Singapore-based operator’s specialized parcelling and breakbulk division, will target project cargo, renewables, steel, bagged industrial commodities, dry bulk, plywood and other forestry products.
One to two vessels will be deployed on a monthly rotation, calling at ports in Amamapare in Indonesia, Singapore and Dahej in India to load and transport cargo to Huelva in Spain, Antwerp in Belgium and Brunsbüttel in Germany.
Customers can request additional port calls along the route, Swire Bulk said.
“This past year has seen an increase in demand for options to move non-bulk and unitised cargoes on dry bulk vessels, which has been supported by a bullish dry bulk market and a shift in the unitised sector towards decontainerisation,” said commercial director Rob Aarvold.
“Swire Bulk is confident that we have the right fleet – modern, fuel-efficient, and flexible – and an experienced, knowledgeable team to meet the demand and respond to customers’ needs.”
Swire Bulk, the specialist bulk trading arm of the Swire group, maintains a fleet of more than 150 owned and operated vessels in the handysize, supramax and ultramax segments.
Until last year the operator was a division of the China Navigation Company.
