Yoshihiko Nakayama To Head New Base in Nagoya’s Central Business District

Swire Shipping has opened a second office in Japan, as the shipping company looks to strengthen services on its trade route between North Asia and North America.
The new base in Nagoya will be led by industry veteran Yoshihiko Nakayama, a Nagoya native with extensive shipping experience, Swire said.
Several staff from Millenium Shipping, Swire Shipping’s former representative agency in Nagoya, have transitioned to the new branch. Millenium’s founder, Sotaro Nishioka, has joined Swire Shipping as senior advisor.
The move follows Swire Shipping’s relocation of its Tokyo office in February.
“Our customers have come to rely on us as we provide more direct service alternatives from ports in Japan and South Korea to the Pacific Northwest than other carriers,” said Chris Robertson, Swire Shipping’s general manager, Asia and Northern Hemisphere, and country manager, Japan.
“Transitioning our representation in Nagoya to an in-house model will enable us to leverage local market expertise and facilitate more direct engagement with our customers.”
Swire Shipping, previously known as the China Navigation Company, has operated as a shipping line in the Asia-Pacific region for more than 150 years. The company is part of the Singapore-based Swire Group.
Breakbulk Asia will be launching in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands on 18-19 November 2026.
