(Asia) Fleet to Serve ‘Vital Supply Chains’
Multipurpose liner company Swire Shipping has announced the inauguration of its newbuild vessel, Changsha, on a new service connecting South East Asia.
The new service will connect Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and the vessel is part of a fleet renewal programme which includes eight new feeder container vessels.
“Like many other companies, we are very concerned about the global situation over Covid-19. However, we are also cognizant that vital supply chains must remain open with as little disruption as possible … The addition of Changsha and the remaining newbuilding vessels will enable us to achieve this and show our long-term commitment to our customers and the region,” said Jeremy Sutton, general manager at Swire Shipping.
Swire Shipping is the liner shipping division of The China Navigation Co. and operates a fleet of multipurpose ships specialized in carrying, breakbulk and heavy-lift cargoes around the globe.
