Taylor Group, Royal Terberg Launch Tractor JV in US

First “Shunters” at Mississippi Factory to Roll Off Production Line in 2023

Industrial equipment provider The Taylor Group of Companies has joined forces with Dutch specialist vehicle maker Royal Terberg Group to manufacture and distribute terminal tractors in the US.

Terberg Taylor Americas Group will set up a factory in The Taylor Group’s home state of Mississippi and build up a distribution network for the sales, after-sales and rental of Terberg's tractors.

The US$15.9 million venture is expected to create 90 jobs.

According to The Taylor Group, a US distributor for Terberg since late 2020, the facility will be built as a scalable design to meet future production needs. The first tractor is slated to roll off the production line in the third quarter of 2023.

Terminal tractors, also known as yard trucks or shunters, are typically used to transport trailers in harbours, terminals and distribution centres and to load and unload cargo from RoRo vessels.

“This facility will be a state-of-the-art factory where the best terminal tractors in the world will be built,” said Robert Taylor, president and COO of The Taylor Group.

Louisville-based The Taylor Group is the parent company of industrial material handler, Taylor Machine Works, whose equipment range includes forklifts, wheel loaders, container handlers, reach stackers, log stackers, railcar movers and telehandlers.

Taylor Machine Works will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Americas, taking place on 27-29 September at the George R. Brown Convention Centre in Houston, Texas. You can meet the team at in Hall A&B, Stand B34 (equipment zone).
