Technip Energies Bags Contract for Petchem Project in India

Energy Services Firm to Provide Naphtha Cracker Technology for 1.5 MTA Unit

Technip Energies has won a “significant” contract with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at a mega cracker project in India.

The energy services company, which deems a “significant” contract to represent between US$75 million and US$250 million of revenue, will carry out the licensing, basic engineering design, proprietary equipment and catalyst supply and related services for a 1.5 million ton per year naphtha cracker unit at the petrochemical complex in Paradip, an industrial seaport in eastern India.

The complex, which will also house several downstream processing units, will be integrated into an existing 15 million-ton-per-year oil refinery. Paradip is one of four proposed chemical and petrochemical hubs in India, according to Technip Energies.

“We are once again delighted to be entrusted by Indian Oil Corporation Limited for their mega cracker project in Paradip,” said Bhaskar Patel, SVP Sustainable Fuels, Chemicals & Circularity at Technip Energies. “Our proven ethylene technology and legacy work on mega crackers are important differentiators for our clients. We look forward to delivering this significant project which illustrates our commitment to India.”

Technip Energies boasts a workforce of 15,000 operating in 34 countries worldwide. The company focuses on LNG, hydrogen and ethylene and has growing market positions in blue and green hydrogen, sustainable chemicals and CO2 management.
