TechnipFMC Secures Pipe Contracts in the Americas


Houston-Based Firm to Supply Flexibles for Offshore Projects in Mexico, Brazil



Energy services company TechnipFMC has secured two contracts to manufacture flexible piping for offshore oil projects in Mexico and Brazil.

In a first contract, TechnipFMC will supply infield flowlines and jumpers for Australian energy producer Woodside Energy’s Trion deepwater oil project some 180 kilometers of the Mexican coastline.

The contract is the Houston-based company’s largest flexible pipe award to date in the Gulf of Mexico, said Jonathan Landes, president of subsea at TechnipFMC. “(The contract) builds upon the trust we have established with Woodside over many years of successful execution and delivery,” the executive said.

Woodside has partnered with Pemex to develop the Trion field, with first oil slated for 2028.

TechnipFMC has also won a “significant” contract with Brazil’s state-owned Petrobras to design, engineer and manufacture 14 kilometers of gas injection riser pipes for pre-salt fields, offshore Brazil.

For TechnipFMC, a “significant” contract is between US$75 million and US$250 million.

TechnipFMC operates a fleet of 18 vessels, including diving support vessels, construction support vessels and pipelayers. The company is organized into two segments – subsea and surface technologies.

The Woodside and Petrobras awards helped push TechnipFMC’s third quarter subsea revenues to US$1.7 billion, up from US$1.4 billion in the year-ago period.

Total revenues in the three months ending September reached nearly US$2.1 billion compared with US$1.7 billion in last year’s third quarter. Adjusted EBITDA excluding pre-tax charges and credits was US$238 million, up from US$186 million.
