(Americas) More Than US$520 million for Infrastructure Upgrades
The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced US$520.5 million in grant funding for infrastructure upgrades across the nation’s airports.
The funding will be awarded for infrastructure work at 287 airports in 41 states. The White House also said it would invest US$11.4 billion safety and infrastructure improvements at more than 2,000 airports across the country.
“This $520.5 million in federal support to airports across the country will help to keep our nation’s airports in good shape,” said Elaine L. Chao, U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
The DoT also reports that it is streamlining the approval process, with the aim of cutting unnecessary red tape and reducing unnecessary, duplicative regulations that do not contribute to safety.
