Seamless tubular solutions firm Vallourec has supplied a range of advanced tubular technologies for California Resources Corporation’s Carbon TerraVault I (CTV I) carbon capture and storage facility at the Elk Hills Field in Kern County.

CTV I is the Golden State’s first CCS facility to secure U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Class VI permits for CO2 injection and storage in depleted oil and gas reservoirs. At its maximum capacity, the project is expected to store up to 1.46 million metric tons of CO2 per year in the 26R reservoir. First injection at CTV I is planned for spring 2026.

Vallourec’s tubular solutions including corrosion-resistant pipes with premium VAM 21 connections have been deployed to ensure safe and long-term carbon dioxide storage for the landmark project, the company said.

“This milestone demonstrates the strength of our North America teams in delivering complex projects through technical expertise, field service support and close customer collaboration,” said Jacky Massaglia, senior vice president for Vallourec North America.

France-headquartered Vallourec provides premium tubular solutions for energy markets and industrial applications including oil and gas wells, new generation power plants, challenging architectural projects and high-performance mechanical equipment.

The company employs nearly 13,000 workers in more than 20 countries.

Vallourec is a member of the Breakbulk Global Shipper Network, a worldwide network of companies and executives involved in the engineering, manufacturing and production of project cargo. The next in-person meet-up for BGSN members will be at Breakbulk Europe 2026 on 16-18 June in Rotterdam.
