Volga-Dnepr Transports Wind Power Equipment

Air freight from Cologne-Bonn to Australia’s Mid North Region

Breakbulk airline Volga-Dnepr has delivered a shipment of wind power equipment from Cologne-Bonn, Germany, to Australia.

The cargo comprised 80 tons of energy equipment and was delivered to the wind farm construction site near Hallett in the Mid North region of South Australia by Antonov 124-100 cargo plane. Cargo included a 4-meter long, 36-ton wind turbine hub and three 12.6-ton generators.

“This delivery is a very good example of how the long-term cooperation and permanent dialogue can result in saving time and money … we could combine the urgent shipment of the wind turbine hub needed for the replacement and the transportation of three generators for new installations at the wind farm according to the project schedule,” said Ekaterina Andreeva, deputy commercial director of Volga-Dnepr Airlines.

Based in Ulyanovsk in eastern Russia, Volga-Dnepr Airlines specializes in air charter services via a fleet of Antonov An-124 and IL-76TD-90VD (Stage IV) cargo aircraft.
