German Carrier Orders Third 13,800-Tonne-Capacity Vessel
Wagenborg Shipping has ordered a third EasyMax multipurpose vessel to be built at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard in the Netherlands, with delivery of the newbuild expected in the first half of 2023.
An option has also been taken to build a fourth, the Dutch shipping company said.
The 150-metre-long, box-shaped EasyMax vessel has a deadweight cargo capacity of 13,800 tonnes, and was jointly developed by Wagenborg and Niestern Sander. The first of the fleet was built in 2017, with a second delivered in 2021.
A spokesperson for Wagenborg told Breakbulk the EasyMax type is designed to carry all kinds of general cargo, including bulk, breakbulk and project cargo.
“The Egbert Wagenborg and Máxima have now proven themselves as sustainable and successful ship types and, together with her future sisters, will continue to contribute to Wagenborg Shipping's position as a leading multipurpose shipping company,” the carrier said.
Wagenborg Shipping is a division of Royal Wagenborg, the Netherlands-based maritime logistics group that also operates heavy-lift specialist Nedlift. Its fleet of 170 ice-strengthened MPVs ranges in size from 1,700 to 23,000 tonnes.
Royal Wagenborg will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe 2022, taking place on 17-19 May at the Rotterdam Ahoy conference Centre. Click below to register for the conference.
