DAKO Hauls Huge Turbine Across Libyan Desert

Project Team Braves Harsh Terrain to Deliver 317-Ton Unit to the Sarir Power Plant

DAKO Transport Worldwide had to push through some punishing terrain during the recent transport of a 317-ton gas turbine and related accessories for a major replacement project in Libya.

The transport operation kicked off with an ocean voyage from Hamburg to Benghazi, followed by a grueling 600-kilometer overland haul across Libya’s harsh desert to the Sarir Power Station in southeast Kufra district.

Road repairs and reinforcements were made en route to secure safe passage, DAKO said.

“Throughout the entire journey from port to job site, our local technical team in Libya closely monitored the operation to guarantee a smooth and a secure delivery,” DAKO said. “Backed with decades of experience, the company continues to demonstrate its proven track record in managing heavy-lift transports and executing complex industrial projects across Libya.”
